Natural oils are the perfect answer to dry, brittle, damaged or frizzy hair. After a little oil treatment your do will shine and look healthy again in no time! You really don’t need for expensive hair treatments or products filled with chemicals. Nature often has the best solutions for restoring moisture, hydrating and nourishing your manes. There are many natural oils out there, but these are our 5 all-time favourites for haircare.
These 5 Natural Oils Are Amazing For Your Hair:
1. COCONUT OIL
The use of coconut oil expands far beyond ur kitchen walls. Coconut works miracles for both skin and hair. We’ve raved about the health benefits of coconut oil before. When it comes to hair it does a great job moisturising your strands and adding a full shine.
How To Use It
Put a scoop of coconut oil onto your head and gently massage into the scalp. Or ask your partner to do the massaging for you! :) Leave in for 10-15 minutes, then rinse and wash your hair with a natural shampoo. You can do this treatment once every 1-2 weeks for everlasting effects!
2. JOJOBA OIL
Jojoba oil contains 98% monounsaturated fats, which makes it great for rehydrating your hair. It can really penetrate the hairs and repair them from the inside out. It also adds volume to your hair, whilst some other oils can make it quite “heavy”. The composition of jojoba oil is very compatible with your natural “hair wax”: the sebum, so it’s easily accepted by the scalp.
Make sure to use an unrefined, natural jojoba oil, which you can recognise by it’s rich, golden colour, opposed to the clear and odourless refined ones.
How To Use It
You can use 1-2 teaspoons of jojoba oil to massage into your scalp, and rinse afterwards. Alternatively, put a couple of tablespoons in your favourite organic shampoo. Even natural shampoos can be quite dehydrating for your hair, especially if you wash it often and you’re prone to dry hair. Adding some natural oils easily solves this problem!
Jojoba oil can be used daily, since it’s non-comedogenic, meaning that it doesn’t clog your pores! If your hair is naturally more greasy, then only apply once a week.
3. OLIVE OIL
Olive oil really adds softness and strengthens the hair. It’s especially useful for thick or over-processed hair, and also works great to repair split-ends.
How To Use It
To repair split-ends gently apply 1-2 tablespoons olive oil onto the ends of your hair and leave in for 15 minutes. For treating a dry scalp you can also massage the olive oil directly onto your head. Note that olive oil is a bit heavier, so if you have the type of hair that doesn’t easily get voluminous, then coconut and jojoba oil are the better choices for you.
4. HEMP OIL
Hemp oil is an excellent source of essential fatty acids, vitamins and other nutrients and is easily absorbed by the hair and scalp. It gives your hair the proteins it needs to rebuild damaged hair and stimulates hair growth. Hemp oil also prevents your hair from breaking as it promotes keratin formation, which helps to strengthen your hair.

Either massage it directly into your scalp and hair, or put 2-3 teaspoons in your shampoo or conditioner bottle, give it a good shake, and you’re good to go! Use 1-2 times a week for long-lasting effects.
5. AVOCADO OIL
Avocados aren’t just delicious and healthy foods. The oil of avocados is actually amazing for repairing your hair. The same fatty acids, minerals and vitamins that are so nourishing for the inside of our bodies make them ideal for treating damaged hair.
Just like jojoba oil, avocado oil contains a very high amount of monounsaturated fats (more than olive oil), which makes it easier for all the good stuff to penetrate into your hair and work it’s magic from the inside out.
How To Use It
Apply the avocado oil directly onto your hair and/or massage into the scalp. Leave in for 10-15 minutes and rinse well. Use a natural shampoo for the finishing touch and to get the last bits of oil out.
