Did You Say Yes?

The Power of Yes

So many of life’s experiences are located outside of our comfort zone. That, my friend, is where the magic happens. I would have missed out on some of my favorite parts of my life’s journey so far had I played it safe and stuck with what’s familiar.

  • When your slightly off-tap best friend suggests a spontaneous road trip up North at the drop of a hat, what do you say?
  • When your partner suggests trying a new restaurant that’s opened up, that may or may not meet health standards BUT makes an absolutely kick ass lentil taco, what do you say?
  • When your boss comes in to the shared office and says “We have a space open in management and it has YOUR name on it?” (Even though you are not sure if she is even talking to you), what do you say?

I hope you would muster all the enthusiasm of a crazed spider monkey and throw yourself at an opportunity for a NEW and SHINY experience. In the words of Mr. Richard Branson;

Sometimes just say YES, and figure it out afterwards

Now I’m not suggesting you take on some reckless behavior that will ultimately lead to your demise or possibly hurt someone else. No bueno on that one, you crazy kids.

I am talking about making a diamond. Diamonds are created under pressure and you my dearest are ready to shine!

When you get down to the bones of it all we are geared with a fight or flight response when we are faced with a new and unfamiliar experience.

The butterflies take flight in your tummy, your brain runs a zillion probable consequences, your palms may get a little juicy and you quickly have to work out whether you are going to jump onboard the groove train, next stop “EPIC EXPERIENCE” or flee the station and head for the beige bunker.

Of course is nothing wrong with playing it safe. There is nothing wrong with a calm life. Saying YES doesn’t have to be scary, but it might mean breaking old habits that have kept you from experiencing so much more of what life has to offer.

What is one thing you have always wanted to do, but have never had the guts too? Got it clear in your mind? What if you took one step towards making that happen TODAY?

Instead of focusing on the worst that could happen and going to that negative place, we shift our focus on the BEST that could happen

I would rather have a life filled with oh-well’s then what if’s. Feel the fear and do it anyway. CARPE the hell out of this diem.

So what do you say? Are you ready to come from a place of YES?
The universe is ready for you right now. You were made for THIS.

Exciting right?
